31 days. 14 journal entries. Three cities. One country– for now.
I recently spent a month traversing the Iberian Peninsula, searching for what makes and breaks a nation-state from the ground up. With a group of fellow students from a myriad of fields, I met with political parties and organizations from the full spectrum of ideologies, studied the complex tapestry of history, and critically examined the stories we've been told and the figures who tell them. Along the way, I kept a journal of questions raised, answered, and left open.
These entries — originally handwritten on trains, buses, museum benches, cathedral pews, palace steps, bar tables, sandy beaches, and, more than once, a hospital bed — will be posted on this blog as I transcribe them. Photos and supplemental content are to be expected. I'm looking forward to sharing this journey and everything I learned or was left wondering once it was done with you all.
Ciao, y hasta la próxima vez.
